As always, all kinds of gen works are welcome, both transformative and original.

Please put your work in a new post to the community. Don't forget to check the tags and post with any that are appropriate - including the challenge: military tag. If you haven't posted here before, or haven't posted for a while, I encourage you to take a quick look at our guidelines for creators.

The challenge will run through Sundayish, January 9th, and we'll try to post some reminders along the way for those of you distracted by the holiday season. Go forth and create! :)

It Comes Naturally
Watson, Queer Gen | 25,500 | PG-13 | Moderately graphic depictions of a brawl and resulting injuries

On a cool Thursday in early September, Watson descended the wide stairs of 221 Baker Street, still yawning away the last of a fitful night's sleep, and found her friend and partner, Sherlock Holmes, sitting at the breakfast table and intently reading a letter. The missive was several pages worth of cramped, dense handwriting and was already spattered lightly with what, at a cursory glance, appeared to be tea.

Watson is a woman who has chosen to disguise her sex and live as a gentleman.

redsnake05: Art by Audrey Kawasaki (Bandom: drummer Andy)
[personal profile] redsnake05
Title: Who are you, sweetheart?
Author: [personal profile] redsnake05
Fandom/characters: Bandom (Fall Out Boy), Andy Hurley gen (Andy/Matt, Andy/Joe, Andy/OFC)
Rating: PG-13
Contains: Genderswap (always a girl), sexual situations
Wordcount: 21,763
Summary: Andy doesn't have a problem with her identity, just the asshole journalists who want her to justify herself and spill her soul. Why should she? They'll just see what they want, write what they want, and it's not like her words make a difference for them. It's her words to herself that are important. This is the story of Andy's decisions and the way she lives with them. The story explores the trials of sharing a van with Pete Wentz, the joy of FOB being signed, Fuck City coalescing into a solid unit, and, through it all, the nagging questions that people ask her.
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction and no offence is intended
Author's notes: Written for the 2010 [livejournal.com profile] bandombigbang, so it comes with art and mixes also. Beta read by [profile] nev_longbottom.

My head is about to explode with stress so this post is inexcusably late.

It's also going to be inexcusably incomplete.

The long of it: will be posted next week sometime.

The short of it: we had a tie for Three Weeks To Dreamwidth prizes. There was only one clear winner - [personal profile] majoline, who commented the most. Thank you, [personal profile] majoline, for your support! I'm terribly sorry this has come so late. Also a heartfelt THANK YOU to [personal profile] iadorespike, who provided the points for [personal profile] majoline's prize.

And for those who recced/wrote/drew/did other things: WE WILL BE HAVING A TIEBREAKER CHALLENGE.

Rules and a poll for prompt suggestions to come next week.

Again, my sincerest apologies for being so absent.

Fandom: Sarah Connor Chronicles

You wonder what she thought when you were born.

Title: Ex Machina
Creator: Saint-Olga & Eithne-Ame
Universe: Torchwood&Doctor Who/Equilibrium
Type of work: Fanfiction
Wordcount: over 13 000
Contains: No sexual content. Some romantic hints and innuendo. Violent content.
Summary: So imagine somebody is, for some reason, in need for something, in any place, any time, any point in the universe. And if this somebody just happens to have this, it may find any other point in the universe, any time, any place, where there is somebody, who is also in need for something and has another one like this, and snap! - they meet.
Authors' Notes:
1. It started as an idea of a kinky PWP which suddenly needed explanation and character development and stuff, so it grew into a longer story, and then to a cycle. This is the first part, which is mostly explanation and plot. Works as stand-alone.
2. Those who’ve seen Equilibrium will recognize John Preston; those who haven’t - it’s enough to know that he is played by Christian Bale, looks like this and knows a cool shooting/fighting technique.
3. The story is set after the end of Equilibrium, between Dead Line and Children of Earth for Torchwood and after The Next Doctor for Doctor Who. The 'he will knock four times' arch never happened here.

This is a great story, funny and sweet. The focus is on Esposito, but there are nice moments for several of the characters; Castle is particularly hilarious, as is his wont.

Title: Living Undercover
Creator: [personal profile] shrift

author's summary: "Esposito liked to keep things neat, orderly. His clothes, his desk, his apartment, sure, but his desire for order applied to other things, too. Like his privacy, his personal life."

So this is the close of the Zombie Apocalypse flashworks challenge, and the Three Weeks for Dreamwidth challenge as well. Sorry to be a little late, but a few people squeaked stories in there, and more zombies = good, so that's fabulous. Check out the flashworks with the handy-dandy zombie apocalypse or three weeks for dreamwidth tags.

The mods will need to huddle a little before handing out prizes, but we will hopefully in the next day or two (Friday at the latest, I swear on a girl scout).

Also, thanks to [personal profile] iadorespike for the generous contribution of points for prizes! You are awesome! *\o/*

Title: first thing that you want (last you'll ever need)

Contains: Some non-graphic sexual content.
Summary: Laura Cadman at the end of the world.
"She was trapped in a mall at the end of the world with a bunch of maladjusted people who all wanted to sleep with each other, and she was stuck watching it all happen and trying not to die. Horror movies had failed to prepare her for this."
Notes: Written as a Cadman-centric companion to the zombie apocalypse AU I wrote for sga_santa. It is not absolutely necessary to read the original fic to really get this one, but I would be thrilled if you did (the original is Lorne/Zelenka and McShep, not gen). This goes out to [personal profile] kate , who is awesome.
